Tracking Web Pages

In InfoMinder, you set up minders to track web pages. A minder is like a bookmark on steroids. In addition to the URL, a minder includes a description, a set of keywords and several other attributes. See MinderAttributes for more details.

Creating Minders

You can create minders in several ways.

Importing Favorites or Bookmarks

You can import favorites or bookmarks from Internet Explorer and Firefox Browser You can also import bookmarks from other formats like CSV, XBEL, and OPML. The number of bookmarks you can import depends on the number of the minders in your account and your MinderLimit.

Using the Create Minder Form

You can create a minder by choosing the Create option in the InfoMinder web form. Create option, will allow you to type the URL, a description and a set of category keywords. Category Keywords allow you to group minders.

Using a Browser Extension

A browser extension, also known as add-on can be used with Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox browser. You can [download] the add-on for the browser. This add-on will allow you to right-click on any page and create the minder for the current page. You can also create multiple minders with a single click by selecting a set of links on a page and using the opting [Mind Selected Links]

Viewing Minders

You can view minders either as a simple list or by categories. In the case of a list, we can sort them.

List minders in a sorted order

In this mode, the minders are listed in the order specified. You can dynamically sort them by clicking on the column headers. The following attributes can be used to sort the list of minders.

  • Page location (popularly known as URL)
  • Description
  • Changes – by ascending or descending order of number of changes in a page
  • Change Date – In the chronological or reverse chronological order of the date of change
Group minders by categories

You can also group minders by categories. When you create a minder, you can associate one or more categories with the minder. For example, when you research a company for investment, you may assign categories like – large-cap, midcap or smallcap. When you choose the option to group minders by categories, you will see the minder listed under each one of those categories.

Categorizing helps you organize a large number of minders into manageable groups. It also allows you to receive notifications grouped by category.

Deleting one or more Minders

You may want to delete a minder in one of the following cases:

  1. The page is no longer available for tracking (deleted or moved)
  2. You are no longer interested in tracking the page
  3. You may be tracking a particular topic for a project, and the project gets over

To delete minders, in the list view, mark one or more minders and choose delete. This operation will remove the minders from your collection. If you are deleting multiple minders, you may want to export |them to save all your minders, first.

Editing Minders

You can change the parameters of a minder at any time. You do this by Editing the minder. In the list view, you can click on the Edit button for the minder. Edit will display the minder and its attributes. You can change any of the parameters. Here are the parameters for the minder.
