What is Atom?

Atom is an XML-based file format. It allows lists of information, known as “feeds”, to be synchronized between publishers and consumers. Feeds are composed of a number of items, known as “entries”. Each entry has a set of attributes. For example, each entry has a title. The primary use of Atom is syndicating web content from a site to many other sites.
